Why travel to Cusco in the rainy season?

Why travel to Cusco in the rainy season?

When we plan a vacation in Peru, one of the first things we take into account is the seasons with the best possible weather, especially if we plan to visit Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Incas, on the outskirts of the city of Cusco. Although it is true that many travel agencies suggest traveling during the dry season (May to October), there are many reasons to think that the rainy season (November to April) is an attractive time as well.

fewer tourists

The rainy season in Cusco attracts fewer people, as everyone waits to plan their trips when the rains end. What does this imply for you? More space to visit different archaeological sites, fewer people in the background of your valuable photos, and the possibility to better connect with guides and travelers like you, just to mention a few things.

warm temperatures

Another pro of visiting Cusco in the rainy season is that the weather is warmer. Summer in the southern hemisphere runs from November to April, which means that temperatures during the day and at night tend to rise more than in the dry season (winter). At this time, you will be able to fill your luggage with travel souvenirs for your family and friends, instead of stuffing your bags with winter clothes.

More variety of options

If you travel in high season and you plan to visit tourist places, you will have to buy tickets well in advance if you want to visit the main attractions of the city and the outskirts. This will not be the case if you decide to travel to Cusco during the rainy season . Since there are fewer people, there is less demand for these attractions. This means that during the rainy season in Cusco , visitors will be able to relax their plans, which is a luxury.

lower prices

If you travel during the rainy season of Cusco , where there are fewer travelers, it means that you will be able to find the best prices on tours, hotels, food, etc. With what you save, you can spend on things you had not considered, such as an additional excursion or try one of the many delicious restaurants in the city of Cusco. Did you convince yourself?

greener landscapes

The rainy season in Cusco brings with it green landscapes due to the increase in rainfall (rest assured that these rainfalls are not constant throughout the day, but could come throughout the day). The mountainous landscapes that were once dry and brown, are transformed into a bright green color that extends from the outskirts of the city of Cusco, to the edge of the Peruvian jungle, where Machu Picchu is located.

If you plan it well, you will realize that there are many advantages to spending your vacation in Cusco during the rainy season. The options available inside and outside of Cusco are many and varied.
