Your safety comes first
First-aid kit.
Our Ausangate Adventure guides are equipped with a portable oxygen tank and a first-aid kit containing basic medications and the necessary tools to handle any eventuality during the trek. If at any time you require medical assistance, please don’t hesitate to inform your guide. The guide is fully trained to provide you with immediate assistance and ensure your well-being.
We recommend that each traveler bring their own personal first-aid kit, especially if they are taking any medication or undergoing a particular treatment. This way, we ensure your Ausangate experience is safe, comfortable, and worry-free!
Oxygen Tanks
At Ausangate Adventure, the safety of every traveler comes first. That’s why we carry portable oxygen tanks on all our expeditions to respond immediately to any signs of altitude sickness. Our local guides are trained to monitor participants’ physical condition and provide preventive or emergency assistance if necessary.
Oxygen is administered only if necessary and is available throughout the journey. Additionally, our team knows the safe evacuation points along the route, ensuring a quick and efficient response to any eventuality. Thanks to these measures, you can enjoy your experience in the heights of the Andes with safety, confidence, and the support of a trained team.
Emergency horse
At Ausangate Adventure, we care about your safety and well-being at every step of the way. During our treks in Ausangate, Rainbow Mountain, and other high-altitude routes, we have an emergency horse ready to assist you and evacuate you if you experience fatigue, altitude sickness, or injuries. Our muleteer in charge and the guide are trained to provide you with immediate support and ensure a rapid response in any situation. Our emergency horse is part of our trekking team to provide you with a safe, responsible, and humane adventure, where you can enjoy the high Andean landscapes and have an incredible experience.
Satellite Communication
At Ausangate Adventure, the safety of our travelers is a top priority before, during, and after every trek and expedition. For this reason, we are equipped with modern satellite communication systems, including satellite internet access, allowing us to stay connected even in the most remote areas of the Vilcanota Mountain Range. These systems are primarily available for emergency situations and logistical coordination, ensuring a fast and effective response whenever needed. In certain locations along the route, travelers may also have the opportunity to communicate with family and friends, providing added peace of mind throughout their mountain adventure.
Operating in high-altitude environments requires careful planning, extensive experience, and reliable safety protocols. That is why we continuously invest in advanced technology and specialized equipment to provide safer, better-organized expeditions. Our commitment is to ensure that every traveler enjoys an authentic Andean experience with the confidence of knowing they are supported by a professional team prepared to respond in any situation.
Medical blood pressure monitor
At Ausangate Adventure, we prioritize your well-being at all times. That’s why our guides carry a professional medical blood pressure monitor to take your blood pressure and keep an eye on your cardiovascular health during high-altitude treks.
Our guides are trained in the use of this instrument, capable of identifying any bodily changes and responding safely and quickly. This advance check allows us to ensure that every traveler completes the tour in complete safety and with the lowest possible risk from exertion or altitude.
Oximeter
At Ausangate Adventure, your health comes first. That’s why each guide carries a pocket oximeter to monitor your blood oxygen levels and heart rate at all times. This test shows us how your body reacts to altitude, and we can intervene immediately if we observe any signs of altitude sickness.
We know that everyone acclimates to altitude differently, so our guides will keep you informed of your levels and, if necessary, provide you with extra oxygen from our emergency tanks. With these recommendations, we’re ensuring that you hike safely, confidently, and peacefully through the Ausangate mountains.
